Ms. Twanda Toliver-Gainer is currently serving as Assistant Professor, HU-VETS Nurse Recruiter-Counselor, Hampton University School of Nursing Hampton Va. She is a Lieutenant Commander (Retired) United States, Navy Nurse Corps Officer and has over 25 years of nursing and leadership experience in Medical-Surgical, Post-Anesthesia, Health Promotion and Nursing Education. Ms. Gainer is currently pursuing a PhD in Nursing Education from Capella University. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing (1992) and Master of Science degree, with a concentration in Nursing Education (1999), from Hampton University. Ms. Gainer has published articles on the topic of “Optimal Student Learning Modalitiesin Nursing Education” and “Student Success”.
Ms. Gainer has served as a Peer advisor for Elsevier/Evolve and a V-Nurse project consultant. She also served on the Bureau of Medicine Health Promotion Advisory Board and is currently serving as a board member of the Black Administrators in Child Welfare, Inc. (BACW).
Ms. Gainer has served in the capacities of BSN Traditional -Track Program Coordinator, and Associate Degree Program Coordinator at Norfolk State University, Department of Nursing, and Allied Health, and as Assistant Professor at Hampton University School of Nursing, College of Virginia Beach, VA.
She has experience teaching Adult Nursing I & II, Fundamentals of Nursing, and Nursing leadership. Ms. Gainer holds membership in numerous professional, civic, and social organizations.
