About the National Student Nurses' Association, Inc.®

Founded in 1952, the National Student Nurses' Association is a nonprofit organization for students enrolled in associate, baccalaureate, diploma, and generic graduate nursing programs. It is dedicated to fostering the professional development of nursing students. The organization has over 60,000 members in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Delta Iota Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau

The Hampton University Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society was chartered Delta Iota Chapter March 27, 1980. The Honor Society is dedicated to service and committed to the pursuit of excellence in clinical practice, education, and research. Delta Iota Chapter is the second oldest chapter in a Historically Black College. The Honor Society was organized to:

  1. Recognize superior scholastic achievement and leadership qualities
  2. Foster high professional standards
  3. Encourage creative work
  4. Strengthen commitment to the ideals of the profession of nursing.

Membership consists of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and community leaders. Membership is based on superior scholastic achievement, evidence of professional potential, marked achievement in the filed of nursing, and peer evaluations.

About Sigma Theta Tau International

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing was founded in 1922 by six nursing students at Indiana University. Membership is by invitation only to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and nurse leaders exhibiting exceptional achievements in nursing.

The Hampton University Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. was chartered Tau Beta Chapter May 1, 1976.

About Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.

Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. is a professional association for registered professional nurses and student nurses (male and female) representing many cultures and diverse ethnic backgrounds. More than 8000 Registered Nurses and Student Nurses hold membership in Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.

There are over 78 graduate chapters and 38 undergraduate chapters located in 26 states, District of Columbia, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and Monrovia Liberia, West Africa. Membership is by invitation and is both active and honorary.
